Painters North Shore
Federation and inter-war homes, leafy streets and a lot of original detail. On the North Shore the preparation is the job, and the paint is the last step.

period homes, done the slow way
Much of the upper and lower North Shore was built before the Second World War. That means timber windows and doors, picture rails, decorative ceilings, and layers of old paint underneath the current one. Homes painted before 1970 can carry lead in those older layers, so that is checked before anything is sanded, not found out afterwards. Our guide to lead paint in older Sydney homes explains what that means.
Many North Shore streets sit inside heritage conservation areas. An exterior colour change there can need council approval, so it is worth checking with your council before the scheme is locked in. We quote the work either way and fit around the approval.
shade, moss and the south side
Tall trees are part of the appeal, and they keep walls damp. South-facing walls, fences and eaves often carry mould or moss under the paint. We treat it and let it dry before anything is coated, because paint over live growth fails within months. Colour advice is part of the job once your quote is approved.
